Thats it.. everyone is foreclosing up here too and rent is sky high.. Hang in there, everyone is discouraged right now, hell we're talking about selling our stocks! It's gonna get better.. AND THIS...

You have to agree Tara, wasn't it awesome up there in the fall? THAT I will miss for sure.

The best news I have gotten in a while since I came back is I am going to work for my mom and stepdad at thier new restaurant they opened. Total change of careers, which is great actually. I love to cook, so I will soon be Chef Chris! At least something looks good ahead. FINALLY.

I also moved back based on how I remember Orlando back in 1984. It has changed dramatically and not for the better. I agree it is my fault I am not as happy as I could be. I should have done more research prior to moving. Now I am just going to make the best of the situation.

Let's get back on topic.

The original poster asked for anyone to please post strange things about Florida......things that do not make sense.

One strange thing I have noticed is the many toll booths in Florida. It costs me $3.50 to go from Leesburg to Orlando on the turnpike, less then 40 miles. I don't mind the money as much as the four, (I think) booths I have to throw money at. It slows you down.

I know I could buy a sunpass, but I do not think it would make sense until I live down there full time.

In NY, we have E-Z Pass. It works on the thruway, on bridges, everyplace there is a toll. Tollbooths are on exits only, so weather I drive 10 miles to the next exit, or 350 miles, I only go through one tollbooth when I get on the thruway and one when you get off. EASY. How does Florida think it's way is better???

Why is a street/hwy exit off of I275 listed as East/west when the road goes north/south? Which way do you go?

Coral Castle

It has always baffled me. No one else has done what he did, and only in Florida.

I had always heard Florida was tough on crime, and it may be that it is. I just think it is baffling that it does not have the 3 strike law.

Why do people move to Florida from New Jersey or Massachusetts in order to escape those states' regulatory and tax nightmares, but still vote for Democrats (who are responsible for those nightmares) once they're here?

Why does a lot of Florida bother to have "School choice" When you have to pray that your child gets in your first choice? They should call it "Our choice", or "Florida choice"? What happened to, you live around the corner from a school, that's where you go????

Let's keep politics out of this thread and stay on topic.
We have a good political forum here that is better suited for this type of post.

Enjoy! Frank D.

It used to be that way in the turnpike years ago. You picked up a ticket when you entered the turnpike and paid when you exit. similar to the NJ turnpike and NYS Thruway.
