Default Moving to Avon Park/Highlands County?

I am already living in FL.
I am in Miami.
I am looking for work elsewhere in the state because I am SO fed up with traffic, housing prices, fast pace, etc in Miami. Looking to relocate to rural FLA.
I am interviewing in Avon Park next week.
Anyone know the Avon Park/Sebring/Highlands County area?????
Any feedback?
To me, it looks quiet and peaceful.
Also, I'm a single mom, and housing looks affordable.
In Miami, even a starter home is going for $250k +, and I just cannot do that alone. I'm paying $1,000 a month on a cruddy apartment, and I am tired of apartment living. I want a tiny old cement/stucco house or little townhouse...anything with even a postage stamp yard.

I live in Avon Park now was born and raised here and my family is here but we are going to have to move. My husband just accepted a postition in Sanford. It s a nice area growing alot and property is really jumped up as in all areas of FL . Jobs dont pay well and it depends on what field your in if your in the medical field its great alot of retirees so big need for medical staff. Computer field forget it my husband is in the field of computers there are no jobs in that field if they are someone has to die for you to get it. We dont really want to move but have no choice if we ever want to live the kind of lifestyle we want. So Good luck
