My husband and I are looking to relocate in North Port by the end of the year. We are looking to rent a house/apartment before we buy, to make sure we like the area. We have three small childen so we need to be in a nice, safe, affordable area. Can anyone tell me which areas to look into and where to stay away from?

Plenty to choose from!
There are several parts of North Port that are kid-friendly & safe; are you looking to be in a gated community or not? As for renting first (always a good idea), if you want to rent a house, I would look for the help of a realtor.
Toledo Club Apartments is a very nice apartment complex, too.
