Winter Haven and Lakeland are both good cities but Winter Haven is much cleaner over all. Lakeland has some nice areas and a pretty public park but it also has MUCH more ghetto areas. Winter Haven has a much smaller, nicer ghetto and some VERY expensive huge houses on clean lakes. Winter Haven is more of middle-class to upper-class city but thats mostly unincorporated Winter Haven, the ghetto is near down-town Winter Haven. Loads of fastfood joints and other places to eat. NOT [i]that[i] humid.

Hi, I just bought a house at the Swiss Golf and Tennis Club and fell in love with the place right away. I'm semi-retired and pretty active so I took a look around Winter Haven and found it to be a very nice, clean and vibrant city. I can't wait to spend 6 months in Winter Heaven!

What is the best part of Lakeland to live in? I may transfer to work in Winter Haven in the future and was wondering what would be the best for my family and I. Lakeland or Winter Haven. I have a 6 year old and am married. Thanks

If you ask long time residents, teachers and realtors, they'll tell you the south side is best. I happen to agree whole heartedly.

I liked Winter Haven-Lakeland area so that I wrote my cozy mystery series using that area (dusty orange grove road off Rt. 60) as backdrop. Country Inn, Dead & Breakfast & Deadwaiter are the two novels. Both books plus Deadly Act is in screenplay format.

Legit prodco's in the area interested in producing/distributing, well, we'll get with my agent and have ourselves a great series.

Now, it's been awhile since I've been back so I'm not sure what the area is like now. Hope they didn't ruin it. Hope it works out for you.
