Default Ponte Vedra Beach or Palm Beach Gardens?

Hi,

We are looking to relocate from the Bay Area (CA) to Florida. We are currently considering Ponte Vedra Beach (close to Jacksonville) or Palm Beach Gardens.

We chose these 2 locations because they're close to the beach (a requirement of ours) and they seem pretty nice (low crime etc).

Work is not an issue since I will be telecommuting.

We have 2 year old boys, so school isn't an issue yet, however an area with good elementary schools would help.

We will initially be renting and will then start looking for a home to purchase. Our price range is 400k-600k.

My wife prefers PBG and I prefer PVB. The one downside of PBG (IMO) is the annual hurricane issue, however, if this is usually weathered pretty well (pun intended), then we're willing to to overlook this.

We are of Asian Indian descent, so we'd prefer a place with some diversity and where we could walk down the street and / or go shopping without feeling too uncomfortable.

We're also open to other areas with nice homes close to the beach, low crime, good schools etc (preferably east coast).

TIA.
