Northeast:
1.Plenty of Aleve (after shoveling)
2.New springs shocks and maybe tires after hitting all those pot holes
3.Getting up extra early to warm up the car (after installing 10w 5 motor oil) before leaving for anywhere.
4.Chap stick, Blistex or Carmex or risk cracked skin on lips (not very attractive)
5.Dodging Snow Plows
6.Having car covered by snow after plow comes by only to shovel it out again and have the plow come by and recover it.

Florida:
1. Plenty of beer to cope with Hurricanes
2. New roof, landscape, screen room, car or insurance company after getting hit by all these Hurricanes.
3. Getting up early due to generators running. Get up early to go stand in line for gas, food, or water.
4. Blue tarps, nails, hammer, plywood to cover home or fix/repair after a Hurricane(not very attractive)
5. Dodging rude people in these standing lines at gas stations/home depots.
6. Having house covered up in plywood and then removing it from all windows. Only to replace it and go through this list again for another 4 F'in Hurricanes!

I'll take the cold, snowy northeast anyday. The snow doesn't blow away your house. I'ld rather put a piece of firewood in a fireplace anyday than put a piece of wood on my windows!!!
And that’s what makes our country great. Plenty of different place to live - things to do and enjoy and the freedom to own it and talk about it.

Merry Christmas Happy New year

djrfla is on a distinguished road
I live in Florida and we contend with the reverse of the north. Usually have to stay in because of the heat, the beach is good for so long. Sky might be blue but you're indoors and don't see them. I lived in NJ and would go back giving up my 30 years in the south. Nothing wrong with the south....be easy on me. Can't afford to go back to NJ, as everyone else on this board says. The highest taxes, NJ. So I'm looking for something new and in between.

Any suggestions that have foliage more like the northeast? Florida has some depressing landscape. Miss the big tress!

DJR, have you considered the Ozark area and the Quachita forest? It's beautiful in eastern OK and western ARkansas.
