Default Space Shuttle Over Florida

It passed over our corner of northwest Florida a few minutes ago before it landed.
All I saw was the contrail but my son could see it in the patchy clouds and we both certainly heard the sonic boom. Very cool!

It's always an awesome sight - although we didn't get to actually see it today here in Orlando, too cloudy. We had a great view when it went up. It was such a clear night, we could see the boosters dropping and watched it until it became a small bright speck in the sky.

I always jump when I hear those twin booms on the landing, even though I'm expecting them every time!

So amazing. It flew over our place once. The booms scared the heck out of us! We thought someone drove into the building or something(condo) so we rushed outside expecting to see an accident scene, only to realize it was the shuttle! haha! We caught sight of her for only moments... very humbling. Wish we could make the trip to see it launching in person. That's gotta be so exciting!

The closest I've ever been able to get is the beach in New Smyrna. In addition to the incredible view, we could hear it and then FEEL it!!! Amazing!

So glad they got home safely and didn't have to land in California! Good job!

I sold my property in Titusville this past July, it was directly across the river from the space center. I could sit on my front patio and watch the big bird lift off the launch pad. The night launch is best, it lights the whole area up with a big ball of fire... it's beautiful.

Default What an incredible experience

I had forgot the shuttle was due back and it sounded like a truck hit our house. Two loud booms as the shuttle came back.

The night launch was incredible. We are in Ormond Beach, just about an hour north and it lights up the whole sky and you can see the boosters separate and then it turns to a white light. It looks like the brightest shooting start you have ever seen. Awesome!
