Default Better City? Miami or Tampa

I am planning to move to Florida by July. I'm just a little torn between which side I should move to. I have been to Miami (and Fort Lauderdale) many times and I like it, although I know it has many problems. I have never been to the Tampa area but from researching the city (as well as the St. Pete) it seems like it's better then Miami.

I'm 26 years old white male and am moving alone. I'm looking start to a new life, get a job and hopefully meet a nice girl. Can anyone give me any advice on what I should do or what you would do if you were in my shoes? Miami or Tampa, which would be better for me?

Are you interested in just Miami or in all of South Florida, which includes Broward and Palm Beach counties? Broward and Palm Beach are urban centers in their own right while still being part of "Greater Miami," and both have their own distinct atmospheres (which are much different than Miami-Dade County). You said you've been to Fort Lauderdale, so you already have some knowledge of Broward. Beyond that, you can get a good feel for Broward by reading "Compelled to Reply's" posts.

Do not move to Miami. The county it is in (Miami-Dade) is very corrupt, and crime is on the increase. If you start a business or are into green living, Team Metro will be there to extort your money. Broward county is in my opinion a better place if you insist on living in south Florida, it is also more diverse.
