Default Need help, have interview in naples, florida.

Hello, I have a interview with the Department of Children and Families as a child protective investigator.

First thing, if I start out making $30-40,000, is this enough to survive in naples, and where is a good place to move for a new graduate. Also, how is naples? I'm driving with a navigation system to naples next week God willing, currently I reside in Tallahassee, Florida. So I hope I'll be okay with just a navigation system for my first time.

Also, anybody have information on child investigators in naples? Like is there a big population of children there like foster kids etc, with problems?
Hey, thanks a lot for the response!

But I just called the Department Children and Families, and they told me the starting salary was $34,000, and a masters degree may rise the salary a little higher. But I don't know what to do. The Georgia Bureau Investigation in Georgia is hiring also. I think I'm going to try that too.

Also I spoke to someone at the Department of Children and Families he told me to try Riverreach apartments, here is a listing I got online http://www.riverreachapts.com/unit_listing.html. What do you think about that? Is that reasonable?

I also saw another apartment here which is http://www.wildpinesapartments.com/ , about $714 a month, the apartment company also has good reviews from its tenants. But I hope something will work out.

Anymore information is appreciated, thanks and God Bless.

Well, Naples is unbelievably expensive. It is a VERY wealthy area. The second apartment complex, I think it is Wild Pines, has an income LIMIT, so I wonder about it.

There are a few rough areas of Naples, not many, but a few, so I am sure they have social service needs. Of course, child abuse can be found in all socio-economic levels, unfortunately.

I use to live in Bonita Springs and Fort Myers. My husband worked in Naples for a bit. It would not be an area where you could ever afford to buy a house.

I have relatives in Atlanta. I think Georgia is much more affordable.

You could try the Bel Mar hotel. Pretty reasonable and nice.

Stay away from Immokolee. It is a dump. I Bet you do a lot of work there.

Hi there. I actually used to live in River Reach when I 1st moved here and they are not bad at all. Lots of working class young people live there and pretty good location in the middle of town. Unfortunately, most of our apts have turned condo. Try to stay in Naples and not too far into Golden Gate area. You may also try Bermuda Island and Summer Wind. Unless you come here with money, $35,000 salary will not buy you much. Yes, there are a TON of kids here from all walks of life so you would keep busy I am sure. It's pretty easy to get around town as everything is pretty much built in big squares, although give yourself lots of travel time because it is super congested this time of year. There aren't many bad hotels around but I would suggest sticking with a big chain. I have never heard of the one mentioned in the previous post. Almost each exit to Naples has a new hotel within a mile. Sites to visit? Depends what you like....Vanderbilt Beach is nice and very popular, Tin City, 5th Ave, Venetian Village, 3rd St...all give you a taste of Naples.

The bel mar is booked until next febraury 2007 , it actually had good rates check it out http://www.thebel-mar.com/rates.htm, so I'll have to try more hotels. Thanks mm for the response, I really hope they give me more than 35k, just to be able to survive. But thanks for the response. I need just find a hotel at a reasonable price. Thanks and God Bless.

Naples is gorgeous. We love visiting friends who live there. One of these days, I'm going to rent a place for a month.

I know this for sure - stay away from Golden Gate.

What happened to it? That used to be the nicest area near Naples, I almost bought there in 1992.
