Hello,
I am retiring soon and am planning on relocating from California to Florida. I traveled around Florida a few years back and liked it alot. Plus the quality of life vs. the cost is sooooo different than here. I am a hard core golfer and will play several times a week, and am looking for a place where I can live close by, hopefully within cart distance. I am open to any part of the state except in the big cities and would like to find some out of the way place with gourmet golf and a cheap house or dbl wide. Got any suggestions?

There are a number of golf communities here in central Florida. Are you looking for a 55+ community or just communities on a golf course. Also what sort of property are you looking for? single family homes, townhomes, condos etc.

For 55+ communities there are a number which offer golfing.

Looking for above average golf course. House or dbl wide up to 150k. All ages or 55 & older. Golf cart distance from the clubhouse hopefully. Clean and safe area with some room and little traffic congestion.

Citrus county has some nice golf courses. My husband likes to golf. The plantation is located in Crystal River and there's a few here in and around Inverness. Inverness is a small town population 9000 or so surrounded by a chain of lakes. It's a pretty safe area all around. We have a small home for sale in Inverness well under your price range and our neighbors are avid golfers every morning. There is a biking/walking trail nearby to get to the lakes and there is a golf course just on the other side of the lake. I would avoid buying a double wide or any mobile home in FL or you'll have significant trouble insuring it or even getting a mortgage on it if that's your plan.

In that case in that price range, in my experience, the majority of communities that would probably meet your requirements would be in Marion County (Ocala). Although i know that there are also communities in Ft Myers and Saint Augustine which would meet your requirements also. The majority of these homes would either be condo's or townhomes. A couple of the communities may have single family homes but in that price range for new builds at least the last time i checked which granted was a couple of months ago you would be looking at townhomes.

The resale market would be different of course

Hope this helps

We have a multitude of golf courses along our beaches in the Emerald Coast in the Northwest Florida Panhandle ... below is a link to a sampling of the options available:

Check this place out, there are several links on the left that may answer a lot of your questions. When I was in FL I lived two miles from this place and it's nice.
