Searched, but couldn't find previous wildfire threads. Already a ground fire in Brevard and it's still April.

New & prospective homeowners: If you live or buy in a new or sparsely populated development, the fire department will have a tough time protecting your property. The ENTIRE county of Flagler was evacuated and under martial law 10 years ago due to the danger.

The Pepsi 400, a major NASCAR race, was cancelled.

Just google wildfires daytona. Fires should scare you more than hurricanes.

there was a brushfire already in Naples also. You just take em as they come. We lived very far out into the woods and would sit on our porch and watch the fires burn, sometimes they'd be in the front of the house and at the back of the house..

There is one in Gilchrist County near Trenton now that was at 800 acres yesterday. It's just a part of living in Florida

There is one about 2 miles north of me that yesterday was up to around 950 acres.
It is still going.

Things are not looking good. Evacuations, road closures, homes lost & no rain in sight. Firefighters are being brought in from neighboring states.

wesh.com has the latest info for the affected areas, Volusia & Brevard counties.

The person or persons who started the fires in the Palm Bay Area should be punished to the full extent of the Law.(if that is how they started) I heard today 70+ homes burned down or damaged by the fires. We lived through the PSL fires in 1998 and I still remember vividly how scared we where when these walls of flames where coming straight at us. The people where hysterical and we were lucky we didn't lose our home. The flames hit our back fence and grass then went right over the top of our house and burned our front yard and mailbox. The neighborhood was devastated for years. We didn't have city water and the firefighters had to pump the water from the canals to put the flames out. It sounds like some areas of Palm Bay have that same problem. Our hearts are with these people!

If they ever catch the arsonist, they should set certain parts of his anatomy on fire!

I saw a bit of smoke yesterday in what looked like Bonita Springs.. Its under control now however. Last season was pretty bad my mothers house was in the woods and I remember seeing huge fires from the back ofthe house and then one in the front and on one side.. It made for some awesome pictures, and no houses were burned just threatened.
