Default Help me identify...

this snake I saw in my backyard today Looked to big about maybe 2 feet long and thin. Looked black from what I could tell. The second picture is a bit blurry, it was escaping:




BTW - I saw what I think was a coyote crossing my backyard this morning as well

I agree. If you are going to have a snake in your yard this is the one you want. It will chase off the poisonous ones.

Racer. Absolutely harmless and wonderful for your yard. They are a good snake to have around.

Is it really okay to have in the yard even if I have a 2 1/2 yr old and 6 yr old that like running around back there?

I saw a snake in my backyard a few months ago,I heard a rattle and looked in that direction and saw it scatter off.I kept my dog inside for a few days afterwards.
