I enjoy reading all the posts. For the most part they are helpful. My family and I are also considering moving to Florida. I am looking towards the Winter Haven area. My family is a young middle class family from northwest Ohio. My husband has recieved a job offer. I have two children (pre-teens). Winter Haven seems to be the best choice, we will be flying down next week to look around. We are from a town of 15,000-18,000 and are looking for a town a little bigger. This is why Winter Haven seems logical plus it would be a 15-30 minute commute for my husband. I have posted several times asking for advice or postive feedback on Florida. Alot of postings seem to be negative I have done extensive research on Florida but if anyone has advice, I am open for listening or discussion.

well, Im sure by now your down here looking around, You Might like Winter Haven, i do
I guess the worst thing about living in florida is the bugs and the highcost of owning a home due to increasing insurance, and increasing Property tax. and during the hurricane season , its like sitting on pins and needles, trying to figure out if a hurricane will hit us the central florida area got hit bad 2 yrs ago, we usally do not see alot of hurricane damage.. but we did whe three hurricanes with in weeks of each other sailed thru...
Where we live right now ( poinciana ) got hit pretty bad, some of the older homes are just NOW being fixed up Kissimme as a whole got hit pretty bad.
Winter Haven i don't think got to much Damage. except for the shores of Cypress gardens..
Florida is not really BAD but some areas seem behind the times
