Thumbs up Key Largo, Fla.

The ABC Sunday Morning Show had a special report about Key Largo and lauded the marine resources in the area.

Jan. 7, 2007 — Key Largo, Fla., is the northernmost island of the Florida Keys island chain, and is about an hour's drive from South Florida's two major airports.

"Key Largo is just beautifully scenic because you're always near the water," Ronnie Harris of the Kona Kai Resort told "Good Morning America Weekend Edition."

"The water around here changes color every single day, sometimes every hour," Kona Kai's Joe Harris said. "And green is not green when you get to Key Largo. Green is so many shades of green that you can't really count them."

Key Largo is a great place to watch migratory birds, according to locals.

"Key Largo is on the migration path for every bird that's going from the north to the south, and then again from the south back to the north," Joe Harris said. "Down here, everything is beautiful."

The water and the scenery is what many believe calls people to the area.

yeah ...Key Largo is beautiful but now start getting dirty...since I got cuban neighbor who's guess pooped in front of my yard (caugh him did it) in million dollar community, I don't know y they did it, I never call police or complaint about their stupid loud noisy party almost every month, I guess that's what u got 4 being a nice neighbor in south florida. I wish Key Largo would stay beautiful and clen but I guess won't be 4 long..that's 2 bad.

Looks like a pic from the parking lot of the Caribbean Club. Key Largo is OK but on a downhill trend. The gentrification from seasonal residents has brought a lot of rif-raf since the 80's. Our island went from very affordable and friendly to extremely expensive and snooty/trashy. Still a lot of good people remain, but unless property values drop soon there will be few families left. Also it's the most desert-like part of Florida, and the hot/dry weather gets old fast. By March I am desperate for some green spaces!
