Opinion of Florida
Wow, I was glad to see this forum!
I need some honest, down-to-earth and realistic opinions from those of you that live in the Tallahassee area of Florida. We are coming down for a visit in a month or so. My husband grew up outside of Tallahassee (think Wahkulla Springs) and he loves it there. We are considering moving back down there. I've never been to Florida, or even the east coast of the US, although I've lived in heat (Arizona) so heat really isn't a problem for me.
I 've read so much both positive and negative about Florida. What do you that live in the Wahkulla Springs (spelling??) think of the area? Why do you feel that way?
Thanks for the info!

We having been visiting florida for the past 5 years and we love it. It is laid back and friendly and we would give our right arm to be able to move there,

Wow, better than Cornwall? That's a pretty nice area, hotlorrio.
Anyway, missg, the area around Tallahassee does look really nice to me, as well.
(I live 2 hours west of Tally but have passed through a couple of times.)
Lots of unspoiled natural beauty.
It does get hot in the summer but unlike south Florida there are some nice seasonal changes. We had two hard freezes last month.

That's what the pictures I've seen look like. That's what I want, but it's pretty scary making a move like this! Guess I'll just have to read, read, read and then see what I think when we visit. And I think in the heat, or cold, or whatever the weather, a person just does what they do, to adjust. Thanks for your help.

Cil, do you or Sunrico or someone else who lives in the panhandle have any pics of the area? I'd love to see pics of Tallahassee.

Hello there,
I am currently a graduate student living in Tallahassee. Though I'll be leaving soon to move to South Florida (job opportunities and family!), I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here. The landscape and weather are VERY desireable! Hills, oak trees, and Tallahassee is a big town with a small town feel (around 160K residents.... but with two major universities and the seat of government, there are ample cultural activities).
It's very family oriented. I'll try to upload some pics later.

Jammie, I don't, sorry.
Hopefully Tri will help you out.
The place I was interested in living in was Southwood, though there is also White Fence Farm. Google that if you feel like checking it out.

I lived In Tallahassee for a few years after I graduated college. It was great when I was in my 'working and partying' mode. I moved to Miami later. Now that I have a family I would gladly move back. For me, it was either a partying or family area, but very nice. Prices are still very affordable there, in fact, after visiting me there many times, my mother moved there ten years ago and still lives there.
