If you don't you'll be very disappointed with this food wasteland. NEVER did I expect anything so bad as Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda . Never. Asian food here is the port fried rice and a sushi bar is Publix.
So bad.
However we DID find an authentic Vietnamese restarant in Bradenton last week. It was very good. Have to drive though
We could easily start a thread on food in Fla......the southeast coast is the best in the state . The sw coast is pathetic. Don't know about the rest. Even Georgia beats SW Fla in the food department. Only place that's worse is western North Carolina. Now that's REALLY bad.

Texas moving to Florida
I am from Texas and am planning to move to Florida next summer. I am a little concerned about homeowners insurance but I was told it would be alot more reasonable in a newer house. I am looking into Sarasota/Bradenton or Spring Hill area. I have a sister in Clearwater and in-laws in Bradenton and North Port.I need to find an area with families as I am a daycare provider.I am not concerned about hurricanes, we have them here too and the news exagerates everything. You have potential problems anywhere and I would worry alot more about earthquakes with no warning. I have noticed alot of northerners are relocating and then alot end up unhappy because of no snow. I love the north. It's very beautiful but I would never live there because I don't like cold weather. It is 70 degrees today and we have our sweaters on . I love Forida despite what I have read here. There is crime everywhere and rude people everywhere. I found people to be very friendly but then I treat people very well also.I love the water and the beaches and the fact that Tampa is supposed to be a big city ( I'm from Houston). I love all the attractions and things to do. I love the palm trees and the people from all different places. I also have read that it's not like it "used" to be, but no place ever is.

We love Bella Luna in Fishermens Village. The pizza is to die for.
Of course, the owners are from NY.
We also go to the International Buffet for our Chinese food which is also very good. I love my pizza and Chinese food! The owners for the Chinese restaurant are also from NY. Maybe that's why we enjoy the food.
The bagels down here stink though. Also, the Italian bread and rolls are not too good. We just received a box of bagels from H & H bagels in NYC!
The buyers for our house shipped them overnight to us! Couldn't get better buyers than that!

What a great attitude! I think you'll do well no matter where you live.

LOL
It is true, sophistication is not part of most Florida resturants. Listen to me, and I cannot even spell today.
That is why I LOVE Naples, and I have been all around south FL. Naples reminds me of a nice northern suburb, good places to eat!

Sorry but Bela Luna's pizza is one notch above pizza hut. Bought a pizza there ONE time, ate 2 slices and threw the rest away. They're from NY? Must be "upstate" as if they tried to pass that heavy, thick thing off as pizza in NYC they'd be laughed out of town to where they'd have to move to SW Fla! Hahahahaha
