Default Ellinor Village, Ormond Beach, Florida info

I would appreciate any insight on the Ellinor Village area of Ormond Beach.
I am talking with the owner of a duplex regarding rental from August until next May, and perhaps longer. I am from the Northeast of the country, so Florida living seems attractive.

Is this a safe area for a single woman? This is mostly my question.

I have been in the general Daytona/Port Orange/Ormond areas on vacations, and do like Ormond Beach. I understand the pay scale is low for most positions. This is not my real concern at this time, just safety is.

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Ellinor Village used to be kind of seedy, but it looks like they've re-furbished most of the homes. They've been there forever & are solidly built. The surrounding neighborhood is safe, older and middle class (unless you're ocean or riverfront.) Taxes in Volusia County are high and residents, especially in Ormond, get what they pay for. You've got some decent shopping at Bellair Plaza about a mile south and an a great selection of restaurants and shops about a mile north. And you're just steps away from "The World's Most Famous Beach!"

I wouldn't hesitate to rent there. Hope you enjoy it!

(The best swimsuit shop I've ever been to is The Sandbox. Corner of A1A & Granada.)

Thank you for your response, ssg II. Your description sounds like it will be a good choice for me. I am middle-aged, but still young! Being in the middle of activity is just what this tired, coal-region girl needs.
