Default If you want tot fight insurance increases, here is your chance!

Ok, let me start by saying insurance is no longer my problem as I am out of the state on April 2nd.

But for you residents and future homeowner's/car owners, here is your chance to protest and complain DIRECTLY to the crooked politician who are enbaling insurance companies to rip Floridans off.

This is circulating at work. Here it is:

FOR THE SPECIAL SESSION BEING HELD TUESDAY, JANUARY 16th.

Bring your signs and join us in protest of the newly proposed increases of 200% - 900%.

We would like to have hundreds, if not thousands of people to join together and let the Legislators know what we think.

On Oct 12, 400 people PACKED this small room and voiced their concerns about losing their homes due to insurance rates. That meeting was in Tampa, but now they want to meet in Tallahassee because they are hoping for less people. Prove them wrong!

Newly Elected Governor Charlie Crist is pushing for lower rates, but he needs your help to convince legislators!

sptimes.com/2007/01/12/State/Crist__Make_sure_rate.shtml

JOIN THEM AND SAVE YOUR OWN HOMES!

well gues what, paid 1100, got cancelled, why the house is soon to be 8 years old. Agent sure, I can and will help you. Anyway I got this Royal Palm-Allstate-price 1100. First they lost my check, or did not post it. I did a UPS
overnight with a new check. They did PROMISE if both did cross in the mail they would mail me one back! Sure, they took the 2 checks and got the money paid to them. O, this other agent Citizens from 3500-to 5000?

I was so upset, I called the Financial place at the Gov's ofice. They will send a letter to this Royal Palm, so I may get back my check, they just took!

Therefore this company has 2 payments, if you call, email or fax them it is a no reply. Thankfully, Florida, has this part in control. Sure mix ups happen,
however, what is the problem with an email to refund my overpayment, and the serv rep. noted this. What rep said i would have my second check back
by jan 20th. That was never noted, and not possible since they cashed the check, what a rip off. this was not also in the notes, a lie.

If you can prove they cashed both checks, either dont pay them next month/year or sue them. Its a shame those greedy insurance companies are ripping people off, best thing is just to self insure. Dont pay the insurers a dime! I probably wont be insuring my house, theres no hurricanes where ill be moving to anyway and I am not gonna make the insurance companies rich.

Thumbs up Tampa Bay residents protesting insurance

Does anyone know many people show-up for this protest?

Hudson, Florida— An estimated 600 Floridians irate over out of control homeowners insurance rates are expected in Tallahassee today.

Bus loads of protesters from both Pasco and Hernando counties have left for Tallahassee. Organizers say they hope to get the attention of state lawmakers meeting in a special session to address the ever growing issue.

omeowners say they want sinkhole coverage made optional and a bill passed requiring insurance companies to offer homeowners coverage if they decide to officer other types of insurance in the state.

NAH, don't you plan on having some insurance on your house? You'll need a basic plan that would cover liability and you may as well insure for loss by fire or tornado.

You may not be that worried about the loss of a cheaper house, but you wouldn't want to lose all your personal things either and have no insurance. Also, wouldn't you want some sort of liability insurance in case someone falls on your sidewalk because of ice or gets hurt in your home?

Lightbulb Legislators buckling down

Let the fight begin

News Journal capital bureau staff
Getting down to business, the House this afternoon began voting out the insurance reform legislation it has been working on this week.

First out of the chamber is a memorial to Congress, asking for a national catastrophe fund to back up the insurance industry.

House members were unanimous in ending building code exemptions in the Panhandle, requiring the Florida Building Commission to enforce wind-borne debris protection requirements in force elsewhere in the state.

The bill erases what Rep. Marti Coley, R-Marianna, called “an outdated notion” that the Panhandle is not subject to the same degree of hurricane wind damage as the rest of the state.

It appears now that the Senate will give final passage to its insurance bills today as well. After the respective chambers pass their bills the action comes down to negotiations between House and Senate to work out differences between them.

Gov. Charlie Crist, who lobbied personally at the Capitol today, said he’s not worried about taxpayers shouldering a bigger burden for hurricane recovery, if it results in lower homeowner insurance rates, because Florida is “already in the insurance business.”

Crist was asked about House and Senate positions on use of a “catastrophic” fund to cover excessive losses after a Katrina-size monster storm or exceptionally busy hurricane season.

“What’s a catastrophe right now is what people have to pay for their homeowner insurance,” said Crist. “They’re on the hook now and we’ve got to get them off.”
