I would stay away from the panhandle unless you want to put a new roof on your house every year.

I agree, I bought a 1 1/4 acre lot in Grant a few years ago but have since decided I wanted something like 10 or more acres instead farther north. . I was just up there last week and it is very laid back, and has a lot of what you have here as far as boating and fishing all kinds of outdoor activities. The property is for sale now, but I could very easily see myself living there though.

We'll be sure to check out Punta Gorda next time we're down there.

It really is a nice little quaint town! Go to Fishermen's village, they have music, great restaurants, boating, fishing and you can stay there also in a time share...

I personally prefer the Gulf Coast South of Clearwater and North of Sarasota-Bradenton I forgot to add. I know that Punta Gorda is a little farther south.

Default Delray Beach is the best!!

If you want a small town within a big metro area which offers everything from jobs to night life, good shcools to nice downtown, golf courses to world famous beaches... You can't go wrong with Delray Beach. It is part of world famous Palm Beach county and one city north of Boca Raton.

While others may say it is expen$ive, I think when buying a place once should always look at the potential for future growth since a house is usually your biggest investment. The area is fully built out and Palm Beach is considered as the 2nd Hamptons... so you do the math

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! Nice photo. Did you take it? Just another piece of Florida paradise. I think it qualifies for the main thread question as one of Florida's many perfect, or close to perfect, locations.

Laura,
I didn't actually take that pix. It was from photobucket!
But that's how it looks! We love that beach.

Question Moving from N.IL

In 8 Months I am planning on moving down to Florida. I am tired of the weather up here. I have a friend that lives in New Port Richey and another friend that lives in Clearwater. My question is where is the best place to live between the two or near there not to far to drive to either one. I am a single mom of 1 and like to live where its affordable and fun not to mention as safe as any place can be.
