It's more like home of the racists oh and if you don't have a southern accent you're labeled a yankee. Yes there's still inbred country hillbillies around and the thugs that are on the news for killing someone just about every other day. Grant it all states have crime but I've never had to buy a gun or a home alarm system in my whole 33 years in Broward County until I came to Atlanta. And traffic is worse here than Miami. My bro lives in Gwinnett county and he's thought about moving back and he bumped into a lady at a gas station recently from Tampa and she's moving back. I'm sure some people like it but it's not for me.
Isn't Atlanta around 60% black? If that is the case and you aren't African America then yes you'll feel out of place there. I would expect alot of racial tension in Atlanta with those numbers.

As for immigration, I didn't know Atlanta had a problem, I was pretty close to moving there a couple months ago but I changed my mind due to the person I would be shacking up with.

You will have no problem in Atlanta simply because of any numbers. There is NOT a lot of racial tension in the city of Atlanta. Don't listen to loons!
A lot of white people live and work in Atlanta (Can you say CNN) and are doing fine...60% and all.

When did the poster even mention traffic anyway?
I am a native of Georgia and have lived all over Atlanta for the past 12 years. Traffic here is the worst in the country. Rush hour starts at 6am-10:30am going towards the city and again at 2:30pm-7:30pm coming out of the city in all directions. The secondary roads are clogged due to traffic signals and there are no back roads. I moved to North Gwinnett County suburbs to have a nice home in low crime area but it takes me 1 hr to 1.5hrs to get to work EVERY morning and the same coming home. I considered moving closer to downtown but the crime in inner city neighborhoods is unbearble in my price range. The narrorw minded rednecks of my county have voted down public transportation through MARTA for the past 5 years. I would take the train if there was such an option. I'm sure the same can be said for any city but this is one of the many reasons, we are moving to Florida as soon as our home sells. I'm a "pisces" and being landlocked is not my forte. I love the gulf coast and can't wait to move.

When we were relocating, Atlanta metro was my wife's #1 place to move. Don't ask me why. I'm so glad that we moved to Broward county.

So far, the hot and humid summer was not a problem.

After my most recent visit to Atlanta last week, I can see why Atlanta is at or near the top of most of Forbes lists of Best things. Atlanta has so many more things to offer someone, everything from a better lifestyle, better job economy, better cost of living, better weather, I can go on and on.

As far as the hot and humid weather we and Atlanta have had a milder summer, which is good but not usual. The thing is that this weather of 80F+ will be all year for the most part with the exception of about two months in South Florida. Atlanta gets the seasons and a break from the heat.

Yes Atlanta is 60% Black, from what locals have said most (not all) are located inside the beltway.

Yeah, like most crime and most traffic, if you consider those bests. They mostly top economic categories. Did you drive there?

Actually Atlanta crime has come down. Yep drove there 10 hours. On the way back I watched the trees change all the way down to florida. From beautiful trees and pines in and around Atlanta, to mostly Pines at the Florida Georgia border, then to Pines and palmetto bush in Central Florida, then to no natural trees in Palm Beach all man planted trees. On the way up I said to my DH how nice the landscaping was on a community in Palm Beach County was off the turnpike, then after seeing the trees in and around Atlanta, that landscaped Palm Beach community community I liked on the way up, just looked plain/lacking something. And South Florida just looked gritty and dirty compared to what we just saw in Atlanta.

It has here too, but you don't believe the stats . When I said drive there, I meant did you drive around Atlanta a lot during rush hour or any other time really, although that pretty much answers my question.

Funny you ask, went through buckhead, then the center of downtown on the 75/85 Highway Southbound on Monday morning at 9:30am at like 60mph, no traffic, I wonder if people are more dedicated to getting to work on time or something, because there was no traffic heading into Buckhead or downtown. 9:30 am on south floridas highwways its still bumper to bumper. Friends of mine up there (Atanta) say you just need to take the back roads and stay off the highways.
