Its a forum about Florida. That is why people post, to give their opinion. However, opinions arent worth much information wise. Facts are so much better.

It's such a personal thing and all depends on where you came from.

If someone isn't happy in Florida.. or where ever.. I will never understand why people take it as a personal attack.

I can get all the 'facts' I want via google or city-data within minutes and twist them into whatever side I want to present. I bet most would much prefer hearing of people's perceptions, experiences and expectations on these message boards. Unfortunately too many policemen seem to rule these boards these days.

Being an ex- NYC resident, I don't think it's cheaper to live in Florida, I know for a fact that it is cheaper to live in Florida. No if ands or buts about it.

Yes, you can indeed twist facts to fit the need. I too would much prefer hearing of people's perceptions, experiences and expectations. The problem is when mis information or complete b.s. is posted.

Of course. NYC just sucks the money out of you.

Of course, you wouldn't be knowing that as an ex-resident of Tennessee, Oklahoma, Texas, or 21 other states that are cheaper to live in.

Why is FL always compared to NYC on every single thread in the FL forum discussing COL? It's getting very, very sickening.

News flash: Most people who live in FL didn't move here from NYC; however, if you live in Boca like me, it may seem like that at times.

Because it's a relocation forum and a large majority of those looking or posting that have relocated from somewhere else are from the North East and/or New York.

It's not indicative of the population of the state, but rather those that post on this forum.

News Flash: A vast amount of people do move to Florida from NYC and the surrounding suburbs as well as other expensive metro areas such as Chicago that is why they compare it to those places.

In this thread I know of at least 7 posters that live or used to live in the NY metro area, it is extremely relevant to the subject, we have knowledge of the cost of living in NYC and surrounding areas. Do you have actual knowledge of the cost of living in an area other than Boca? Share if you do and then there will be another point of reference for those researching the subject.
