I find the retarded view is that of the malcontents who no matter where they lived would have the same "problems" they do by living in FL. It seems that people who are not making it in life in general blame a place on their misfortunes instead of realizing that it is them, not the place they live that is lacking.

What facts are you purporting?

There are so many realtors and other cheerleaders that prop up this place like its some kind of utopia when the fact is, you will be working hard if not harder for your money and everything else that goes with it. The site definately has a biased towards the "rainbows and gummy bears" view because if someone tries to states something other than that even if it is fact, the threads get deleted as "troll threads" and the user gets banned.

(I am a police officer) and we do make best money around here at around 85+OT and benefits. Anyone from floridas thoughts??
Sales tax in Broward County is 6%. Gas is around $3.89 per gallon for regular. Winters are beautiful here, summers are hot and wet. Normal suburban homes are in the mid $200s, taxes on a similar house would be around $3-4K per year. Police officer salaries are quite a bit lower than you quoted. Police officers just don't make that much money around here.

The issue in FL is not the cost of living. It costs a little bit less to live here than many other places in the US. The issue is that while cost of of living is a little less than it is in other areas, salaries are a lot lower than they are elsewhere.

CNBC's rankings for 2012 "America's Top States for Business" (Found here: Top States 2012: Overall Ranking)

Has Florida ranked as the 25th Cheapest Cost of Living, 27th in Business Friendliness, 42nd in Education, 47th in Economy, and 30th in Quality of Life.

When adding all of their rankings together, Florida is 29th.

I'm sure many will not agree with their rankings, but it's not "cheaper" than many parts of the country, it's just cheaper than where a majority of Americans (Northeast & West Coast) live. It ranks 25th, which is right in the middle.

How do wages compare? People do not seem to understand that you probably cannot make anywhere close to the amount of money here that you make elsewhere.
