eugene/springfield, oregon: tonight i paid $2.49 a gallon for regular. a week or so ago it was $2.63. before that it was around $2.80. and that's just regular, not high octane.

everything, and i mean everything, is more expensive on the west coast of the united states.

here's a site i go to now and then to check out gas price averages: fuelcostcalculator.com

Me, too! I remember, as a kid, pulling into the gas station (this is when somebody actually pumped it for you), and asking for $1 worth of gas and you actually got a couple of gallons! Now, you'd fill up a tea cup!

Today Clermont's is $2.11- $2.13; Walmart is usually 3 cents cheaper than Racetrac if you have a card -- so that would put it around $2.09. But we have friends down from TN who got gas nearer the theme parks on Thursday for $2.06. Wonder what it will be around June when we plan to go out west....back up to $2.50 perhaps?

as a teenager, i recall "gas station wars" - since there was one on every corner - and gas would be 17 cents or 19 cents. and not just for one day, either. later, the "norm" would be 26 cents to 29 cents.

i remember pulling into a gas station with 35 cents or 50 cents and having it go a long way in my red rennault and later, my saffon colored datsun.

yep. and this was in the 60s/70s. i'm "only" 58.
