And yet we didn't want to invest in high speed rail, or any sort of other efficient mass transit system in this state.

Why? Because "planning for the future" is just too expensive! Why figure out alternative solutions now when your kids can deal with it later?!

That's not the only reason. You cannot have a military that has representation in 100 countries, create a nanny state with cradle to grave socialist programs and expect to have technology, high speed trains, infrastructure, and be competitive.

Not many people can even define freedom anymore

Having spent many hours on the stretch of I-75 in question, I'll take what I can get. If it has to be a toll lane, so be it. Anything to get the traffic moving again.
