Gypsychic, it's a simple case of forum activity. Do a search for "Ocala" and for "Lakeland" in the Florida forum and you will see that there are more threads and more interest in Ocala. We are responding to what our posters have shown interest in, not to population numbers.

Exactly the same reason: there are more threads about Ocala than Tallahassee. If our traffic continues to increase, you can expect both Lakeland and Tallahassee sub-forums in a few months.

But doesnt Polk County and it's towns get more threads in general?
Lakeland
Davenport
Haines City
Winter Haven
Then smaller towns of mention:
Auburndale
Lake Wales
Bartow
Lake Alfred
Then the really small towns:
Frostprrof
Polk City
Dundee
Mulberry
I see a lot of threads on Poinciana also (half is in Polk County).
I remember seeing somthing on the news a few days back when someone mentioned that the Lakeland Metro area was within 100 miles of half the population of the state of Florida.

Even after adding all these, Ocala still has a few more threads. Also, even though Davenport is in Polk County, it seems that a lot of posters like to write about in the Orlando sub-forum, so I think we'd at least need a poll before deciding how it needs to be classified.

Just wondering here. But how about a poll where members of this forum can vote on how the subforums should be decided? Because I think it looks messy with the way the Florida subforums are now.
The poll could be like this.
A. Keep it the way it is and add more cities as traffic increases for a particular city.
B. Have 5 subforums
1. North Florida
2. South Florida
3. West Florida
4. Central Florida
5. East Florida (again not sure if East Florida is called Treasure Coast)
Members could also recommend other options to vote on.
Just an idea.
I personally like 5 subforums. Because all 5 would get alot of threads and everyone would feel included, plus its easier to learn about other areas in one of those sections. Its to chopped up and divided right now and people feel excluded.
Whats everyone think?

I agree. Several of us have suggested something similar. It is way too chopped up now, and with a huge county like Polk excluded, no one really even knows where to post info on those cities and towns! There are just WAY too many subforums now.

Kind of childish antics, but in addition, Leon County is worse...
Leon County- 4,841.8 crimes per 100,000
State Average- 4,694.7 crimes per 100,000
Polk County- 4,349.1 crimes per 100,000
