I live in the Daytona area, about an hour northeast of Disney and honestly have never seen an alligator in this area. I have seen them at my parents' former home right on the St. John's River. I have seen them at Gatorland (Orlando) and in the area zoos, but never near my home. Of course I don't live on the water either. There really aren't a lot of lakes, retention ponds, etc. around here anyway. Anywhere you go within an hour of Disney is for the most part, quite urbanized and in those areas you are much more likely to encounter Mickey Mouse and other Disney characters than you are to encounter alligators.
