Most average working folks know the best jobs here are Verizon, Florida Power, Tampa people Gas, etc. and County and City of course. Which all give free benefits plus good pay.
Unless you transfer from existing job to promotion. Everyone else pay is awful.

Thank you for posting that. Schools also have very good benies. Sunrico had found a wonderful site for me and that'd be my first stop if we end up in the panhandle. It seems the city is always looking for employees.

The better paying jobs are not related to the tourist industry or hospitality. We have a solid aerospace industry that feeds smaller companies. This does diversify the opportunities for employment.

One of the requirements of many GOV contractors is the used of services/items from small business, woman owned, minority own and disable members...

This is written on the term and conditions from the GOV contracting office... This is a great opportunity for anyone. The income potential can be easily over $500K in the first 2 years. No wonder I work the logistics arena....

As I stated many times, you have to diversify and adapt to reach your goals....

The county site has a lot of info as of 2005:

37,000 military retirees in the area = to 800 million dollars f buying power. (I'm one )

69,380 jobs are support by directly or indirectly by the military spending

3 USAF bases currently represent $4.1 billion impact on the area

Just imagine the 2006 figures, not posted yet....
