It's too far for a commute but Pensacola is close to the left and Panama City is an hour away to the right. The whole area is nice but I'm not sure that everyone would be able to find employment there.

Whatever makes people happy, right?

Maybe if I was 40 or so I'd think different, but for a 24yo it's nice down here if you are open minded to new things and can tolerate all kinds of people from all over the world. Everything north of WPB is "South Georgia" and "South Alabama" respectively (no offense!!!). And I wouldn't want to live there.

Like I said, whatever makes you happy

Do any of these places have art schools or universities with art classes where I could take classes? I've taking Continuing Education classes at art schools where I live now, and I really like them. Basically, they are the same as the regular bachelors degree courses, but offered at night. All I could find was Ringling in Sarasota.

right... i wish, but it's not. there is nothing georgia or alabama-like in orlando, or most of fla anymore, other than some places in northern fla. believe me! south fla is more like ny or nj, with some latin american countries... no thanks... bad enough in orlando, cant even begin to understand miami.

The University of North Florida in Jacksonville offers a BFA, so you could take classes there.

As for the poll, rather than compare cities, I thought I'd point out what Jax may have to offer in your requirements (my comments are in bold):

* wanted to be near nice beaches for swimming We have beaches and they're nice
* liked shopping We have upscale shopping - Louis Vuitton, Coach, Kate Spade, etc.
* liked to take classes that would be easy to do
* were interested in art and an artistic community Five Points/Riverside, and San Marco are our "artsy" neighborhoods
* wanted to be in a place with clean air and water Jax rates well on both

My vote is Sarasota. Sarasota has everything you would want or need, and it has a good crime level!

Good Luck!

I'm with Suncoast Guy. Sarasota is the best city IMO, no matter what your age is, Sarasota is a great place to live. It has great restaurants, a fabulous arts community, and some of the best beaches in the state. Sarasota all the way!

Hi Guys,

Thanks everyone for the replies, everybody seems really split! LOL. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody knew about university art classes I could take in Tampa, or Boca? I know Miami has U. M., Sarasota has Ringling, and Jax has a university w/a BFA. Thanks for all your replies!
