Hey Everyone! Hoping to get more info about Lakeland from some of you. We will be moving there in Aug. from San Antonio, TX. I think I've been able to narrow our search for housing down to a couple of zipcodes. I've been all over the internet, but still have a couple of questions.

1. Does the city have a recycling program in place? We just expanded our recycling program here in San A and I love being able to recycle!

2. In looking at public high schools, I can't seem to find any information about dress codes? Specifically....do they require uniforms? Neither of the high schools' websites that we are interested in address this.

3. Another one about schools....specifically...does anyone know anything about transition programs or services offered for adult students (special needs)? Again, the school websites are VERY VAGUE on this.

4. We'll be needing to live in temporary housing for our first couple of months and it would great to have some recommendations for GOOD places to kennel our dog for that time.

Any help/info is much appreciated!

Hi again! Yes, Lakeland recycles! Now as far as the schools, I don't have first hand knowledge, but maybe you can get some info about the special needs from this website:

Thanks Gypsy! You have been an abundance of help! We are really looking forward to getting to Lakeland! I keep learning more and more cool stuff about it and we are anxious to call it home. We've been put in touch with a real estate agent thru my husband's relocation company and we are starting to look at houses online so we'll have some choices narrowed down by the time we get there. Maybe you could go ahead and start petitioning the Chamber of Commerce to bring in a Krispy Kreme by the time I get there! That would be MOST helpful!
