I am considering a move to central Florida because there are lots of dog activities there but would like recomendations for towns that would be "dog friendly" and be a nice pretty kind of town. Don't want a subdivision type house but one with a little space around it (maybe 1/2 or 1 acre) Any suggestions? Thanks! We are from Memphis, TN

If I were to move to the central part of the state I'd consider the Lakeland area.

Oviedo would be your best choice.

I second that - Lakeland is beautiful, and overall clean and safe. There are nice outskirts of the town where you can get a little land, too. Lots of beautiful lakes here for you to enjoy!

I can't argue with Lakeland either or at least the general area.
How big of town were you looking for?

Really don't care much about the size of the town but was thinking more of somewhere north of Orlando if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for that area?

get a map out and make a circle with Lake City at the top of the circle and Ocala at the bottom of the circle. Nearly every town inside that circle would be a decent choice.

I like Micanopy (outside of Gainesville) and also Mt. Dora. They're cute, charming towns.

Closest to the north I would say Lake Mary, Sanford or Oviedo.

Smaller, further north....Osteen or Enterprise (part pricey) You also have what I call the "D" towns....Deland (historic)Debary and Deltona. Deland would be my 1st choice of the three...more in towards Stetson University.
