I get that Florida is scary in some places and hot and has bugs. LOL.
I live in Tacoma WA now which is scary in some places cold and rainy and has thugs lol.
I am looking to relocate to South Florida. I am looking for some suggestions on nice locations. We can afford rent up to 2000 a month ( steering away from buying) and I have children. I am looking to move too a typical gated community. Living in Tacoma your kids cant play outside with out direct supervision anywhoo. A gated community helps some what to keep out the predators. Any thoughts on this Florida residents?

A friend of mine lived in a gated community in Miami, and just moved to Ft. Worth for the same reason you are looking to leave Tacoma. She wanted her son to be able to ride his bike, with out her having to worry. You may want to look at northern florida instead.

Default Which county?

Which county are you interested in? Palm Beach, Broward or Dade? Each county has it's own pro/cons...

I wouldnt recommend southeast FL due to crime problem. Look at the crime index and notice how much higher its than average! Id also suggest north FL, the weather is better, crime is lower and rent is cheaper.

Im leaving FL alltogether but if I wanted to stay in FL, northern FL beats southern FL. Cheaper, less crime, slightly less hurricane risk, less traffic, cheap land, lower costs of living, better weather, etc.

If you can afford $2000 a month rent, you may consider Coral Gables or Pinecrest, possibly South Miami. There are also some of the coastal communities you may wish to look at.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am looking for properties in all the areas that have been listed for me Has anyone been is Homestead lately. I have heard the town is really coming around with its new hospitals and school and many new housing developments. Has anyone been in Homestead in the last month or two?
