I'm in the area this week. Obviously, gas prices will vary from one station to another, depending on part of town and brand of station. I'm seeing a lot of Tom Thumb food marts with prices around $3.65 per gallon, plus or minus a few cents.

Gas is running about $3.69 a gal in the suburbs, the lowest I have seen it is $3.64 at wal-mart.
The height of the tourist season is spring break..and throughout the summer of course. Yes, it gets more congested during this time. Especially when you make a trip out to the beach, the traffic can get really backed up, and no place to park.
There are a lot of buffets, but not just strictly seafood. If you want good seafood you can go to Peg Leg Pete's, Crabs, Laundry's or Skopeloes.

Diver and Turtle, Thanks for the info. Your gasoline is $.30/gal cheaper than mine in Illinois. Thanks for the HVAC Job tip and restaurant suggestions. Im curious to know what are some of the key advantages of Pensacola area that have kept you there for so long ? Thanks.

Wondering about schools in the area. Molino?? Cantonment?? Where are the best public schools? What areas to avoid?

REPLY: Do you find the Panhandle summer temps. tolerable ? Whens the last time you had measurable snow accumulation ? Are there Shelters in Pensacola when Hurricanes are a threat , or, are you expected to evacuate to the North ? What is the shortest duration youve had between two major Hurricanes (years apart ? How many years ?) . There are no emission testing of cars in Florida, correct ? Once again...thank you for being willing to answer questions . Dave

It doesn't have an effect that I notice. We don't have the problem of the undersides rusting either (from road salt).

Molino, Gonzalez, Cantonment, and Pace are good areas. Avoid the "Brownsville" area, it's pretty much a ghetto. Some parts of Ensley are trashy too.

It does get unbearable during this time of year. Especially if you have to work all day in this heat. I can't remember the last time it snowed here. 4 or 5 years ago maybe, and if it did, I don't think it even did stick. Yes, there are shelters when a hurricane comes here, usually they used the schools or some churches will open up for shelters. If it is bad enough they do tell everyone to evacuate, but of course not everyone can. There was 2 major hurricanes in one summer before.
