At the moment, though, it's just not feasible because of our (well, more my wife's) employment needs. Maybe 10-15 years down the road . . . if I play my cards right and get a bit lucky (so that I can have a decent income while not needing to be in a particular location).
I'm with you -- but I'll take 3 (in the US anyway) ... Spring and fall in NYC, summer in San Diego and winter in Miami.

PERFECT!

It's only bad WHEN people visit from out of state.

If it's snowbird season...why can't we shoot them?

At least they get to go home sometime. Although my idea of going home, wouldn't be in the summer time.

But while they're here, everything's worse. Crime, traffic, stress....can't they just stay home all year?

Just plain stay home up north all year. If I was talked into it, maybe a vacation for a few days only.

I live in a golf community. There is nothing but snowbirds here. Nine months out of the year it is all boarded up and deserted. I have no neighbors. One the right side of me they are from SCOTLAND and come here in December. On the left side of me, they just bought and are snowbirds from Pa. My neighbors across the street also just moved away.

There is no sense of community. It may just a well be a hotel. I am used to a community of homes on LI where people were not only there 365 days a year, but stayed even as empty nesters when their kids were grown up and gone. We would all go outside and talk to each other. That is missing here. We watched each other's children grow up and move away. We were there for each other in times of need. You don't have that here. I am isolated enough be thousands of miles away from my kids and my home. That is bad enough without living in a place that is deserted 9 months out of the year. I could never do that. Live in one place for just winter months and then leave.

There are just so many things I don't like about it here. This is just one more.

I don't talk to my neighbors, and they've been here as long as I have. I have no DESIRE to speak to them. I like to go home and lock myself away from the world...it's the only real peace I have.

See? Two TOTALLY different people!

I do lock myself in my home, but that is because I don't want to see the tropical world outside.

If people didnt visit Florida, you would REALLY be in a financial bind . Visitors to Florida help the States economy tremendously and you should be more willing to share your state with others. In fact, if you dont...you are infringing on another Americans rights...and i know you dont want to do that because we are all Americans and can visit/live where we want in the USA. I think it goes deeper with you than just people visiting Florida ; can you tell us how you are doing personally such as your daily life, job, stress, housing, financial situation, marriage, hemeroids, etc ??? (Here, lay down on the comfy sofa and tell us whats really ailing you ; Ill have some pure Florida orange juice brought in for us to enjoy while you share ...).
