Yes, that is a plus not having an inspection, BUT... On the other hand there are some real piece of doo doo cars on the road in Florida for the reason there is no inspection. I remember my first couple weeks in Orlando when I moved to FL from MA. I saw a Mazda RX7 driving down the street, no doors, no hood, headlights DUCT TAPED to the front of the car, and to top it all off, NO WINDOWS!!! And it was not some dude driving it to the body shop, I saw him driving it like this for months, he lived around the corner in Winter Park at a sister property to the one I worked/lived at. I have seen cars/trucks driving around with black smoke pouring out, no headlights, no lights at all, no fenders, hoods, bald tires... I can go on. If you have a NORMAL car, that's ok not to have an inspection, but not some of the junk allowed to drive the streets. So it is great news if you have a non road worthy pile of crap to drive in, beacuse they don't see what you are registering down there.

Some of us think that you should be allowed to drive a piece of junk on the roads if you want to. Hell, I'd let soap box racers on the highway if someone wanted to try driving one there.

I think she was trying to say, no inspections.
We use to live in PA. Boy, talk about a state where they tax you for everything. They did have inspections. Total rip off. If "joe the garage worker" knew the customer he would slap a sticker on the car and say it passed. Even though is was a piece of
Oh, well. We are still excited about moving. I know the weather is one of the main issues. I'm sure there will be days we say, Wow its hot But, just saw our weahter and they are calling for snow showers next weekI'd rather my air conditioner keep me cool, not snow.

Our inspections here in Middle Tennessee are $9 and all they do is check the computer and the pressure on your gas cap.

Hurricanes hit my area in 2004. The last one to hit before that was in the 60's. No hurricanes have hit that area since.

I saw ONE snake during my time here, sunning itself on the road. Wasn't 20 ft. I suppose if you go to a ZOO or the Serpentarium, you can see more, and larger ones, but they don't have any appeal.

Still haven't seen a gator...except on TV. (Gators)

I WISH it was hot now...it's pretty dang cold right now!

Wages...sufficient to support my lifestyle, which includes a live-in girlfriend that has no income herself....and her cat.

I've had one person break in my home and try to steal the TV (landlord's TV), but I stopped him from doing so. I've been in a few bar fights--but consider the venue. Drunk, stupid people.

Mean streets? Maybe if you're in a car...people DO drive like idiots around here. I walk a lot, and don't have problems with anyone.

Florida is many places. What do you want??? I came here from Massachusetts and if you wanted City and nightlife then you lived in or near Boston. If you wanted a bucolic rural setting then you lived in the western part of the state. The same is true of Florida. Jobs, excitement, big city? Jacksonville or Orlando. City life with a little glitz thrown in? West Palm Beach. City life with a little danger? Miami Tommy Bahama/Jimmy Buffet life? The Keys. Crazy, crowded, Joe The Tourist life? South Florida. Leisure but not isolated? The Treasure Coast. A college town feel? Gainesville. To lump all of Florida together and say it's a terrible place to live is narrow minded to say the least.

I'm from PA and it is true what you say about inspections . Although you'd be be glad for inspections if you seen some of the vehicles on the road here.

You'll be stuck indoors just as often as in the North. Florida summers are equal to Northern winters, harsh and brutal. At least up North you have high paying jobs .

I went from "Florida or bust" to Florida and busted. This state will chew you up, take your money and spit you out like chewing tobacco.
