California's population is double Florida's. Florida's GDP, if it were ranked in terms of "size of economies in the WORLD" would rank #19.

It is the fourth largest economy in the United States, preceded by CA, TX, and NY.

Granted California is in a mess right now as are most places but at least it has tons more to offer especially as things improve. Florida just can't compete. Your choices in Florida are to either live on the flat coast or flat inland where it is swamp heat and humidity. There is no topography. No mountains, no snowcaps, no unbelievably scenic parks, no redwoods, no Golden Gate, no big cities with actual downtowns, no industry, no progress, etc., etc. And as we all know Florida is low pay and tourism retail for industry.

Maybe you mean 4th most electoral votes and population. How can Florida have the 4th largest economy with little industry or manufacturing? Are you talking maybe agriculture? You're kidding, right?

No. By GDP, FLorida has the fourth largest economy in the United States, and 19th largest economy in the WORLD.

It's verifiable fact from the IMF.

Oh yeah, and Florida, for all its problems, is actually better off "financially" than California at the present time, with it's nearly 50 billion dollar budget gap.

"If you cannot appreciate the UNIQUE topography, flora, fauna, and natural resources that cannot be found in any other state in the lower 48, then really, there is no hope. You're like a person in Phoenix complaining there's not enough grass."

I cannot appreciate it either. I actually find most of it hideous, but I happen to like mountains and forests in Fall and Winter. GREEN does nothing for me.

I wouldn't like Phoenix either.

People, although CA is in a mess right now, it's not about to drop into the sea as a result of its huge deficit. Californians will have to tighten their belts and make many sacrifices, but the state will bounce back.

California and Florida are both important states, like them or not. Personally, neither are really for me, but they're both fantastic vacation spots.

Prove it, I don't buy that for a minute.

What does Florida export besides Citrus ? Fish ? Former Natives ?
