That's funny. I have a black car, with black leather. I also don't have a garage.

The car does get hot as all hell in the summer, but so far no melting dashboards or third degree burns.

My last car had cloth interior. This is when I lived in Tallahassee, where it actually does get cold and dry during the winter months. EVERY TIME I or friends got out of the car and touched the door --- ZAP --- static electricity. I vowed to never have a cloth car again if I could help it!

Never burned my buns on leather in FL. You sure enough don't get blisters shoveling snow either.

Let's see, we've left our rental in the summer heat for 2 weeks in FL, another week another time, etc. Here in CT I used to NOT have a garage. I never burned my bum, or had any dashboards melt either.

In my neck of the swamp, the purpose of a garage tends to end up being storage space since there usually aren't basements like you get Up North. I think about 25-30% of the homes in my area cannot fit any care in their garages because their garages are so full of stuff.

Actually, a lot of my garage is storage too since I don't storage or a basement here. I do fit my car in though.

Florida is both.

A great place to visit and a great place to live if you love the things Florida has to offer.

When we visit Florida we do not want to come back north.

Hopefully someday we will be able to head south and never look back.

Even when we get to Florida we will do our usual and travel down roads we have never been and visit towns, beaches etc we enjoy so much.

My granny used to tell me, you will never know what is on the other side of the hill until you climb over the hill and see for yourself.

We are on top of the hill and have seen what we want and are heading down the slope. It is just a matter of time now.

I've lived in the midwest, and now live in Florida. Florida is paradise compared to the midwest. The sites, and sounds of all the various wildlife, the smell of orange groves and the dense tropical plants. Warm summer nights, mild winters.
The cost of living has probably caught up to the rest of the country. It's cheaper to cool a house than to warm a house and keep it warmed for 7 - 8 months a year.
People complain a lot, however other places have the same issues, but they have nasty winters to deal with.

Would you say that's true for current times? My aunt told me about 5-1/2 yearsa go that to cool her HUGE Florida home was less expensive than heating her CT home that was half, or less, the size of her FL home.

Just wondering if that was then, or if it's mostly still true.

Granted it depends on what people like (how warm or cool in their home), but still, just wondering.
