Well, I found out yesterday that I didn't get the job up there. So now I am no longer looking to move up there because it just wouldn't work out even though I can do my current job anywhere. Long story, lol.

I'm sorry to hear that.

If it helps, be glad you are not here right now. Tons of rain, very windy, rivers overflowing or on teh verge. Some schools even closed.

And it's cold.

Thanks! It is 65 and sunny here but I am stuck inside working!

My friends in CT/RI are all talking about basement flooding and feeling like Noah right now. It sounds terrible!

In regards to the original idea of the thread I would not say FL is a terrible place to live (even though I'm not thrilled with living here) and of course it depends on where you are in life. My neighbor is young retired and he has a great life of fishing, boating, and going for motorcycle rides. One of my friends moved closer to the Gulf and she is loving it. I wish I could do that!

Yeah, even on the news the weatherman made a joke to bring 2 of everything with us this morning.

I know I want to be in FL and that I wil have to work. People who try to discourage me (family) make it sound like I think it's all fun and games and that I'll never have to work again. I've never said that. I know darn well I'll have to work. It's just a different lifestyle down there (warmth, etc.)

First you have to "find" work here... Good luck on that.

Yes you will have to work but work has it rewards and is what keeps our stomachs from rubbing our back bones. Just remember FL is a big state and each section is different and has different options for jobs and lifestyles. Enjoy the sunshine.

I have lots of family in the Ft. Meyers/Cape Coral area and they love it. Others might too and some may not.
