Well, I don't want to to off topic, but since you asked and you are the OP, right now it is still early, (before 8am), so it is still only 56 degrees. Today the high will be 66, and the rest of the week it will be in the lower 70's for a high.
That is cool for us, normally it is in the high 70's and 80's. This IS our best time of year normally......we live for our short summers here.
We have had A LOT of rain and heavy thunderstorms this year. Our grass is actually still green now, usually brown this time of year.
Up here, your live is run by seasons. You have "TO DO" list for every season.
All too soon, we will be busy cutting down all the flowers and garden plants, winterizing the pool and everything, getting your cars ready for winter, getting everything that can freeze down in your basement, buying your stash of ice melt, making sure your snow shovels are sharp and siliconed, and that your snowblower is ready, etc, etc.
I will be spending the month of October in Florida...I'm counting the days....
Isn't it great we are not all the exact same...
OK, now back to your normally scheduled postings......

I think the Buffalo database may need some updating.
.....................Buffalo, NY........ Brooksville, FL..........National
Forcible Rape:.....62.03...................38.63........... .......32.2
These are 2006 statistics for forcible rape per 100,000 population.
Even if you take the whole of Hernando County into consideration it goes up to 44.5 per 100,000. Higher than the national rate but well below Buffalo.

Hey Frank,
I think you are fast approaching the best time of the year up there! I think September and October are the best. Football season starts up. HS, College, and of course the Bills will be playing. The trees put on a spectacular show! The air is crisp and clean. Everyone is getting ready for Halloween and Thanksgiving, and usually it hasn't snowed too much. I think it generally rains less in September and October too.
Check out the palm tree post - there are a couple good places you can get just the right kind of trees you'd like. If you get them now, they should be nicely matured by the time you settle in in Fla.
I am going to check out some houses in PGI in a couple weeks. I found two I liked, but it didn't work out on my last trip down. Hopefully I will be more successful this time. I am excited about this, but patient at the same time. I'm hoping to spend some time down there Christmas through February if things work out. It will take some ball juggling.
I think I will set up a business when I move down, I am entrepreneurial, and need to do things. I like to do construction related things. I started my career in construction and became a journeyman carpenter, but worked to become a top construction executive. I still have a passion to work with my hands, but will probably start a smaller company and pass on some of the things I've learned. I deal with suppliers and subcontractors from all over the country, so I know I can be successful and competitive, but mostly I want to help people with their needs.

Big house,
That is true. Fall is nice here....you get to bring out the flannels again, and the smell of wood burning stoves is in the air. The fireplace is nice.
But, we really need to get back on topic, and turn this thread back to those who long for what we just mentioned.....hey, maybe one of these good people who are not happy in Florida will want to buy MY house up here....
OK, back to those who are not happy in Florida........

To all people that are miserable in Florida - Go check out Frank's house - it is big, in a nice town, there's more than enough Snow - trust me, and . . . It's not in Florida! How is that for helping to get it back on topic. LOL
