ok, so our goal is to move to florida in winter 2009. my husband is a golf pro and i am a jewelry designer. we are in our 20's and wont have kids for a long time. we want to be no more than 2.5 hours away from walt disney world (yes we are disney freaks) and no more than an hour away from the beach. we are looking for a lower crime area (who isn't) near golf courses, of course. now were we move will have alot to do with where he can get a job, but i need to do some research, so this will get me started! we wont be buying a home right away, just renting for awhile. so, tell me where we should move! lol. we need all the help we can get! we are tired of kentucky and can't wait to start our new adventure in florida! thanks in advance for your help!

I would recommend Windermere. Many pro golfers live there and its 5 minutes to Disney. Nice houses too. Welcome to the Town of Windermere

Also Isleworth, its pricey but you'll love it. http://www.isleworth.com/

windermere, isn't that where tiger lives? i am definately going to look that up. i will also say that my husband is a teaching pro (works at a golf course giving lessons and running a pro shop) not a touring pro (going around with pros doing tournements around the world). hope that helps!

Take a look at the Jupiter area -- lots of new golf courses, very nice beaches, only ~2 hours to Disney and still close to the PalmBeach-Miami metropolis which you might need or help your jewelry business.

Good luck

Windermere is one good choice. Another could be Lake Mary.

PGA National is in Port St. Lucie.

Make sure you have jobs before you get here.

What is your financial status? You better have A LOT of money if you want to live in Isleworth or Windemere.

granted we are looking for less expensive places...but it doesn't hurt to hear about the others. our financial situation will be different than here and depend on the job he gets. the pay scale for his line of work is double in florida than it is here in kentucky, so that's good. we have very little debt (car and school loans) and are thrifty (dont need cable tv) so we are optimistic. plus we will be renting first. no kids saves money too!lol. any more ideas?
