Statistics of people leaving

you want STATISTICS of people leaving Florida, as in transients, you got them. If you don't like or agree with that, too bad.
Of course, these do not show why they left, how long there were here, etc., etc. Maybe you should start your own survey if that interests you. There are a number of people right on this forum, and others, who have left and still post. You can get some idea from them. My guess is that jobs (lack of) will be the top reason, followed by the "not what I expected" reason.

No, I asked if there were statistics on transient population.
Not which states have more people coming and going.
If someone is here 10 years and leaves they are not transient.
Even just a couple of years would not be considered transient in most cricles.
I asked because some posters post their opinion as if it is fact.
If you don't like the definition of transient take it up with Merriam Webster.

do van lines ask people how long they have been in a place? Of course not. That is why I said do your own survey.
At any rate, it all depends on your situation and mindset. My husband's cousin was definitely a transient. He knew when the job was over, he was going to be gone. That is a transient. As I said, contractors/consultants too. They know beforehand they are not staying. 4 months or 4 years doesn't make any difference when the original INTENT is to leave. You do know the saying in law about INTENT, don't you?
The INTENT to leave beforehand makes these people transients.

If we're going to argue about defining transient, than what constitutes "short"? My guess is the Florida/Transient label gets tossed around due to the snowbird factor.

I see that thrown around so much but have never seen and study showing how it is the largest.
Transient does mean staying only a short time so just because Florida has alot of people move here does not make them transient.

Florida is not called the U-Turn state for nothing.
People move to Florida, fall on their butts and return back to where they came from... some, even some on this board do it more than once.
all you have to do is type Florida and Transient State into google and it brings up 104,000 websites... must be something to that rumor, eh ?

I swear people just type to see themselves type.
I have never heard Florida called the u-turn state before. I googled it and nothing came up in the first 2 pages so I don't know what you are talking about.
I algo googled the Florida and Transient state as you suggested and came up with the 104,000 hits. I then replaced Florida with New York and got over 2 miliion hits, replaced that with California and got over 400,000 hits. Washington and transient state gets over 300,000 hits.
I guess there is nothing to that rumor, eh?

When transients leave, they are gone for good.

Didn't see that anywhere in the definition.
Many transients will pass through an area many times. Migrant farm workers are transients. They pass through some areas every year.

If you are a young, married professional working in NYC and want to start a family, have a nice big house, where do you go? Will you quit that nice job to move to another state far away? Huh? You move to the suburbs which could still be in NY (Long Island, Westchester), but you could also leave NY, although still WORK in NY, and move to New Jersey, Ct., or even Pa. For the YOUNG who leave NY, I would think NEW JERSEY probably would be the top state for migration out of NY. You could call these young couples migrants out of NY, but they really aren't. A better term would be COMMUTERS.
The MAJORITY of migrants to Florida has been and probably always will be OLD PEOPLE, although even that is changing now, according to the latest statistics. Even retirees to Florida is down: staying where they are, or NC.
