Any problems with these builders
We are looking at several houses, the oldest built in 92 up to 2004. They where built by these company's RUTENBERG, RUSAW HOMES, SANDERSON BAY FINE HOMES. Has anyone heard of any common problems with these builders, anything we should look for. The house's look nice in the photo's, visual tours and from the outside. We plan on setting an appointment to see the inside's of these house's soon. Just thought I would see if anyone has any pointers before we do. Thanks

I am familiar with Rutenberg. They build beautiful homes here in Orlando and have the reputation for being an upscale, fine home builder. I have never heard anything bad about them.

I don't know the others but agree with Pianogal on Rutenberg. BTW a little background on the Rutenberg name… I’m pretty sure it has all been franchised and the original family of (I think) brothers Arthur, Charles, and Marc no longer directly build. They were known as a quality custom builder and the current companies doing business under their name still produce very nice custom and semi custom homes.

My house is an Arthur Rutenberg home. Very good workmanship. It was built in 1989.

Thanks for the replies and Floridasunshine I googled the names like you said, I haven't found anything negative so far. Buying a home is such a big step, so this makes me feel better. Our first house we bought was an old farm house that needed the works done to it, electric, plumbing and heat. We knew what we were getting into so were'nt really worried about it. We were a lot younger and had fun with it. When we buy this time I dont want it to be a project, although I know every home is a project to some extent . After twenty years on the farm I want to try a newer home and with a good builders reputation.

We are looking at homes that are already built. The rutenberg home we are looking at was built by Arthur Rutenberg builders, I think this is there web site http://www1.arhomes.com/. It looks like their homes are high dollar. The other builders in the development that we want to buy in are Rusaw Homes, Sanderson Bay Homes and sweetwater Homes. You can Google their names and they should come up. So far I haven't found any complaints. We are planning on shelling out 300thou or more on a home, so we're trying to do our research. Hope this helps

Authur Ruttenburgs Homes were very well built, and very expensive, I think they statred out in the tampa area before the 80s...i believe its more like a Franchise now tho!
