Apalachicola/St. George Island
I will be visiting the Apalachicola/St. George Island area during July, and was wondering if there is any place in either town to rent one of those little cars that looks like a VW Beetle with its doors off. (GEM car, maybe?)
Thanks!

Is it a real car? (I don't know much about vehicles.)
I really don't know of any rental places in either Apalach or on St George, but I can ask around. Sometimes people use golf carts around here, not sure if they own them or what.

It's sort of an electric car, I think, about the size of a golf cart. It looks like a new VW Beetle without doors.

Something like this:
Contact one of the tour offices and they might refer you to the proper agency: http://www.apalachicolabay.org/listings.php?id=75

I was visiting the Apalachicola "Forgotten Coast" area for a few days earlier this month, and noticed a sign at the city limits that said that electric powered carts (like golf carts or the vehicle pictured previously) are authorized to be operated on all city streets except US highway 98. I thought that was interesting, guess that must be something fairly common in some towns in FL.
