Something is skewed in the data (dating from 2001) that is used in the homefair comparison. They rate Port St. Lucie as a 39 and Fort Pierce as a 599. Based on that, it would seem that if you combine Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce, the average would be pulled down severely.
Based on Metropolitan Statistical Areas, Port St. Lucie is the 24th safest city of any size, anywhere in the U.S., and is the 8th safest city in an area of more than 100,000 popluation.
Here's the problem -- the Port St. Lucie MSA
includes Fort Pierce. If Fort Pierce is as bad as you say it is, then Port St. Lucie by itself must be cleaner than Heaven Itself in order to rank that high when combined with Fort Pierce. Rmember that Fort Pierce is the county seat of St. Lucie County, where Port St. Lucie is located, and their centers are only about 8 miles apart -- they actually come close to touching in a few places.
One would think if crime is that bad in Fort Pierce, some of those horrible criminals would tend to wander down to Port St. Lucie for some better pickings -- after all, everything worth stealing or killing in Fort Pierce must already be stolen or dead...
Sorry, I've lived here for 34 years, and I say you're incorrect.
Also, I think there are a heck of a lot of people who live in million dollar plus houses in White City, along and just off of Citrus Ave, or on Oleander or Sunrise, who would laugh out loud at your contention that Easy Street is a more desirable area, or the only desirable area in White City. In fact, most would agree that Easy Street is part of Indian River Estates, not White City.
