Florida is a big state and a lot of what you read that is negative is true, but is also true where ever you go if there is an over crowding situation. Florida seem to have areas where everybody wants to live and that creates the problems. The truth is, there are a lot of areas that are very nice and somewhat undiscovered, even coastal areas. You may not live close to health care or shopping malls or have a good job market, but as for just somewhere to live, there are a lot of nice places.

Many areas are nice, just crowded. You can find low crime suburbs of Orlando for example. Orlando proper has high crime but some of the suburbs are nice.
