I don't really get the school zoning process. I mean I first went to awesome Citrus Springs school and now I'm in crappy Crystal River. So can someone give me the info on the whole school zoning thing so I can plan my escape?

I do know that you can apply for school choice if the school you would like to transfer to is not full but I believe you have to do this before school starts. Sometimes if you say that is a hardship for you to get to a certain school they will take that into consideration.

Good luck

The school board approves the zoning each year. They can be influenced strongly by members of the community (parents).

We started bldg in a new development several years ago after visiting the zoned school, midway thru bldg they changed us to a less desirable (I'm being nice) school. No one was living in the new area to complain so for the first year we had to use the 'no child left behind law" to force the school district into giving us another option (it was a f school). A few month before the next years zoning came up, hundreds of parents would show up at the board meetings, speaking out. We got zoned back to the nice school the next year.
