Pasco County Schools rank 66 out of 67 Counties
There was a news report last night that said that Pasco County Schools now rank 66 out of 67 Counties in Florida. Great, not only is Florida one of the lowest school rankings in the USA but Pasco is the second to the bottom of the State! THAT is one reason as soon as our adoption is finished we are out of here!

The grass isn't always greener...
Just for the record, Florida schools are not that bad nationally, they are about in the middle. They are ranked 31 out of 50 states. I moved here a few months ago from Las Vegas. I refused to send my kid to those schools, that state is ranked 48 out of 50 states...so if you want to talk about bad schools, there you go.
There are some good schools in Florida, just do your research on greatschools.com to see which ones before moving there.
Besides, public schools across the country are having problems. So you might not move somewhere that has better schools. But do your homework first before moving, especially since you think Florida schools are at the bottom when really they aren't. Morgan Quitno press puts out a listing each year. The worst schools in the country are generally mostly in the west (Nevada, Arizona, etc.). And it's because of all the illegal's infiltrating the schools, not speaking English, failing the tests and bringing the grades down.

Florida also has an Excellent Virtual School System (FLVS) too! It is better than the many of the standard public school boxes.

flvs is Florida Public School Online! You can take classes all year or just the traditional school year. This also allows the student to work at their pace (faster or slower) and you have very good contact with the teachers.
The Brick and Mortar schools here are the Traditional 9 months. The kids can also mix the FLVS classes with standard school classes... many of the high school kids do this (mine do).

You are right that public schools across the country are having problems and we will defiantly do our homework. Aside from better schools I want less crime & gangs.....think that's possible? Nevada is not on our list.

It was on the evening news but I'm not sure what channel my husband had on. If I find it I will post it for you.
