Rolling Hills and trees in very small town? (Ocala, Crestview: relocating, homes)

I live out west in the mountains on a small 43 acre ranch but as I get older the winters are getting worse. The nearest town is just under 300 people. I like quiet and still.

I was trying to find a nice rolling hill area where I could buy an acre or two to hind in during the Wyoming winters.

Do you any suggestions? Really rural and not too expensive? No CCR's. I am great with a chainsaw and a 270. I also love Disney!

So far I have Muce, Mayo, Mt. Dean, Geneva, Milton, Pace and Jay to research.
Anything else that I should add to the list?

What about towns in Escambia County?? That is some very pretty coutnryside up-over there too!!!

I looked at Reddick and noticed that the town is very mixed. I am not use to being around other people as our entire valley has 3 black people. I don't mean to be racist but I really have never had any interaction. Maybe a town like Anthony might be better for me.

I saw that many towns have lakes and rivers. I am going to fly down and spend a week driving around to find my second home. So when you see a crazy woman lost with her little son in the back, say Hi!

I guess I missed something. Since when are there "rolling hills" in Florida? Not that it's not a good place to live otherwise, but if that's what you're looking for be prepared for disappointment, LOL.

Edit: Okay, I guess I was slightly mistaken. There are hills in Florida, but not like in the rest of the country. The hills we have here are "sand hills," which play a major factor in sink holes.

Hi Tacoma, you're my neighbor and we're also looking at relocating to Fla. in the future. Several people on the forum have said that the Ocala area has beautiful, rolling hills. (The gal from Ocala suggested a small town near there) I haven't seen a lot of areas in Fla., but it doesn't sound like there are any hills like you're thinking. The same places that we call "hills" are often referred to as mountains by people from the South and the East and Fla. doesn't have any mountains. BUT you've gotta love the ocean and the palm trees. Considering our winters up here, I think I could give up the hills for the palm trees.

In most of Florida, the freeway overpasses are higher than the hills. If you're looking for hills, I'd really think twice about Florida. The tallest spot in Florida is only something like 300 feet above sea level.

Ft king hwy in Dade City has some high hills, I love to drive there. I always thought it was the highest point in Florida, but I guess it is not.

McIntosh is a nice village north of Ocala. It is full of old victorian homes with giant oaks and tall palms.

Keystone Heights in Clay county 30 miles south of Jax is another small town that is nice but not as scenic as McIntosh. The demographics are much more favorable to your liking than Reddick
