[quote=c3po;5058118]To me, cold temps are in the 40's and below. 50's at night is awesome, and highs in the low 70's would be perfect for me!

Yes, ill bet after scortching summers , 50's at night and 70's in the day would feel great in winter. Up here in northern illinois, 50's at night and 70's during the day are frequent during our SUMMER months ! How would you fare in -15 f. at night and 20 f. for a high in winter !? (<<< thats why im moving to the Florida Panhandle !..lol...)

Found this elsewhere on this site, put in the zip code click submit, then choose custom and choose a date range, good luck finding any decent temps in FL outside of fall winter.

I typed in the zip code, pressed submit, but couldnt find 'custom' to click onto. It is a very comprehensive info. site though.

Thanks for the link (needed a trailing/) I looked up Naples for Jan 3, 2008 and low and behold there was an official low of 34 degrees...

I couldn't find "custom" either, but it sounds cool.

from NY: a very light, a light and a medium weight with a hood. I gave away my heavy weight jacket figuring I could borrow my daugther's when I visit, or buy another when I move back. I bought down all my flannel pjs, wool sweaters, long pants, long sleeve shirts, one pair each of gloves and boots. I also brought down my down comforter. I have only used the very light and light weight jackets, mostly because they keep the AC blasting at work in the winter. I wear my jacket INDOORS. Little hint: raise the temp setting and the school district can save a lot of money.

Anyway, we have only put the heat on twice last year. Actually my husband put it on because HE was cold. I was fine in my flannels. No, it was not necessary to ever put on that down comforter, but I wanted to keep it for when I go back home someday.

Yes, I saw everybody else wearing parkas with hoods up, gloves, scarfs. lol I wore that light jacket. It was not that cold. Well, I suppose if you really like 80s and 90s, 40s must be an absolute horror to you. When it was in the 30s in NY, I wore the medium jacket. I have yet to wear it here. Besides, it went up into the 70s in the day and I had to take off the jacket and carry it around. I WISH I could have worn it all day.

When I lived up north I never put a coat on until we got freezing temp. I got rid of all my heavy coats and sweaters after the first couple of years in Naples. I now have 3 winter jackets, several hooded pullovers. I can't take A/C set under 79.

As far as roads go, the prolonged heat doesn't hurt them. The roads in Illinois are much worse because of the extreme changes in temperature. The extreme cold to extreme heat does much more to damage roads.
