Interesting that we continue to increase our tourism numbers:

The state's tourism marketing agency Friday reported 22 million people visited Florida during the year's second quarter, 1.2 % over the same period last year including an 8 % growth in foreign visitors.

The greater value of the EURO is helping out...

46 million visitors for the first half of 2008 -- 2.7 % than in the first six months of last year.

Is this saving our economy?

The only thing tourism is saving in Florida is low-wage service jobs.

I've always believed that we have to many eggs in the tourism basket. Tourism dollars are OK but overall we still need more clean industry types of jobs to build and save our economy IMHO. Because of our mild winter climate we will always have an agricultural support to our economy and that does support some middle class types of jobs that are not always seen. Sometimes we have to survive on what we have in hand and if tourism is it we will have to make do.
