Yes Broward has lots to do, and to some maybe too much.

No, I was not offended at all.

I moved to Corals Springs for the schools. After my son graduated, I was spending lots of time up here and liked it better. That's when I moved. Now I visit Broward and Miami Dade!

backtofla,

I was wondering why you are leaving Asheville? I thought it was supposed to be a great place to live acording to everything I've read about it. It was actually someplace I was considering checking out.

I am (still) from the northeast and I bought 5 beautiful (horse ranch / land) acres in Ocala, but this board is making me think maybe I should keep looking!

We've been here 28 years and can no longer afford it. Moving back up North.
I totally agree - my husband and kids are moving out of Tampa, Florida - hopefully to North/South Carolina. We moved her 6 years ago and the housing was somewhat affordable and you could still get insurance. The housing/insurance industry down here is out of control! PLEASE do a lot of research, but I agree with moving between the panhandle/Ocala or St. Augustine. Good luck to you!!!

Default an abbreviated version of why we left asheville

1. rednecks combined with ppl from all over the place. (it's like mixing oil and water). your waitress doesnt shave under her arms, and the guy next to you is saying derogatory things about black ppl and jews... that sorta thing.
2. boredum
3. new age women who dont shave their armpits (as mentioned above).
4. limited jobs
5. did i mention boredum???
sure the mtns are nice to look at, but then what??? gimme the ocean!!!

most of all, we moved back to fla for family.

Glad to hear the real perpective from backtofla. I am tired of people complainting about FL on this board. Remember there is a reason that professional young as well active retirees keep moving here. It is called ample of amount of job, potential for business growth and most importanly 'things' to do

My family and I may be relocating to Florida. The main reason for moving to Florida is to be closer to family. But also to get out of California. We are looking into Seminole County for living. I would be working in Orlando. Can anyone tell me what the traffic is like into down town Orlando?
We have two children, so schools will be important. Any information you can provide would be helpful. Thanks!

Default From NY to Fla and now?

Hi, I read your postings and it looks like we have the same idea. I moved from NY (Brooklyn) back in 84 and moved to Miramar Florida now we started venturing and exploring the possibility of moving to Tenn.

I would prefer to Stay in Florida but dont know where? We thought perhaps Central Florida somewhere.

I am relocating my parents from NY in August and they maybe buying a home in Central florida. Any suggestions?

Hi I live in Kissimme but I border right on Orange county. I love this area, I came from Miami and , man what a change!!! We relocated almost 4 years ago and my twin brother and sister went to the schools in Hunters Creek and we never had a problem, (they went to middle and high). I am a realtor over here so if I can orientate you in anyway about what its like here, feel free to email me at JeanetteSeijoSP@aol.com =) hope it works out!

Try Winter Park. We live here and the schools are excellent. The Police Dept is wonderful (not that they have a lot trouble around here). People are very health and community oriented. These are intelligent, caring, athletic, friendly, loving, helpful people. We love our neighbors!

My aunt lives in Punta Gorda, which was a direct hit from Charley two years ago. It is very much a retirement community, but nice.

catwalk,

Orlando traffic is bad. Sorry. For schools, try Winter Park. You can also easily access downtown from Winter Park without getting on I-4, which is a GOOD thing! This is a great community and perfect for raising kids.
